
AFOs can be used to control ankle position, compensate muscle weakness (drop foot) caused by stroke, spinal cord injury, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, polio, multiple sclerosis and so on.
AFOs can also be used to immobilize the ankle and lower leg in the presence of arthritis or fracture.
